Silhouettes

I haven't been real crafty this summer. Been at the beach too much I guess.
The other day I decided I was finally going to make our family silhouettes. This has literally been on my to do list for a year. I did it the cheat way but I LOVE The way they turned out.
I got the canvases on sale at Michales, two for $4.00. I just took a profile picture of everyone in our family, printed them out on the computer, cut them out, painted them black, then modg podged them to the canvases. They aren't perfect,  i.e. mine is way bigger than everyones else's and Sissy's is crooked but oh well.
SO SIMPLE and so cute!

Thrift Store Finds

It's no secret that I love going to the Goodwill more than I like going to Nordstroms. I love searching every aisle for hidden treasures, something to redo, or my next victim to a can of spray paint. Somedays are better than others, but this month I have been

Here's what I scored

I love this little flower bowl. Reminds me of something from Anthropologie. Super feminine. THis little gem might be making an appearance at an upcoming party I'm throwing :)
The bowl on the right is a dream. I am obsessed with Milk Glass and this is kind of similar looking.
Cute little vase, perfect for a couple bright stems. And this picture frame is to die. I love the texture of it.

And who doesn't love something bright and cheery for the kitchen? Right now this looker is full of bananas on my counter.

And this pillow case and matching flat sheet I scored for $3.00 . I love geometric patterns. It only came with one pillow case so I think I'm going to use the flat sheet fabric to make one for Gavins bed too

I scored this little love;y at a garage sale for $2.00. It was painted a dingy light pink with a million chips and drip marks. SO, I put some elbow grease into in and sanded it down, sprayed it with a couple coats of yellow spray paint, and BAM. A charming shelf for the babes room. I'm thinking the back needs to be lined with some cute paper or something. And don't mind the random trinkets, the kids rearrange it daily :)

And finally, my favorite find so far. I mean could you just die! I scored it at a Goodwill up North while we were visiting for $19.00!!! It is in perfect condition and I didn't even need to change the paint color. i am so obsessed with this I can't even explain. The only negative thing is that this beast is HEAVY. I mean like one too many trips to the buffet for this mirror. But I don't care how big the holes, or how many screws, she will be hung in my living room.

So a couple trips and about $40.00 later, I have some pretty cool new things for my house. I love that my house doesn't look like I bought everything out of a catalog. I love how the mix of new old give it so much more character.
Call me an old lady I don't care, I love me some thrift stores and garage sales!

I have one last AMAZING find that my mom found on the side of the road for FREE but its not ready for its reveal yet so stay tuned cause its a goody:)

GEt out there and treasure hunt friends! Just don't go to the ones by me K, cause I'll fight you for it :)

A Table Redo and a Minor Complaint

                        BEFORE                           AFTER

not so good for the manicure . woops

And now I want to do this to our kitchen. I really really love the idea of black and white checkered floors!
I think a trip to Lowes is in my future

we're stuck at home today because our stupid air conditioner in our car is getting repaired. Stupid car, stupid mechanics that are charging a crap load to fix it.
sigh
can you tell how excited I am about  this

so I guess I look for things around the house to re paint or re arrange. Maybe take a walk and make a batch of cookies. Anything to distract me from the amount of money I will have to shell out at the end of the day to get my car back.
Think they'll let me pay them in cupcakes?
I do make a pretty mean chocolate peanut butter one.

Brought to You By My Glue Gun

I LOVE LOVE LOVE having fresh flowers in my house, but lets be serious, it doesn't always happen. SO I decided on the next best thing
I used Dana's tutorial over on MADE and WA-LA beautiful colorful flowers that won't die and add a little flavor to my dining table.

And while my glue gun was out and hot, I whipped up some Mickey and Minni headbands as party favors for a friends Birthday Party. Super easy but time consuming, but I LOVE how they turned out!

My little characters. Its a joke trying to get them to smile for a picture.

We're off to play with friends before it starts to dump rain. Hope you all have a fun stormy weekend!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Pretty In Pink

BEFORE

AFTER

I found this old rocker in our backyard where the scrap wood is. I decided to sand it down and make it a Sissy Girl rocker :) Its kind of funny, because its the first real "girly" thing she has. The babes share a room, so I try to make everything pretty gender neutral, lots of white and green. The one pink thing in there is her bedding. And now.... this rocker. I had some scrap fabric that matched her bedding so I made a mini pillow for her mini peaches :) I made over a chair for Brother too, but its not completely finished, so I'll hold off posting till then.
Ahhh..... feels good to use my hands and MAKE SOMETHING again!
